Located at the highest inhabited region of the world in the Himalayan Mountains, the Ladakhi people received a new primary school. Adequate shading for the school children was a concern because of the harsh solar exposure due to the high elevation. Non-profit and student volunteers designed and built a shading structure that is transferrable and could easily be replicated while incorporating a structural geometry to combat the severe afternoon winds that sweep through the valley.
